Communication with Families
Communication methods we use at St Mary Magdalen's are:
CareMonkey is an online application that stores vital information for the school. Student medical information assists us to keep your child safe. The data is accessed by teachers responsible for excursions and camps and on a day to day basis, we can access important information in case of an emergency. The CareMonkey App is used by many organisations and the information can be shared by sporting groups if parents choose to do that.
FORTNIGHTLY ONLINE NEWSLETTER
Our easy to read online newsletter is informative communication to let you know what has been happening across the school and in each of the learning communities through written student communication, videos and photos. It also keeps you in touch with upcoming events. Click here to subscribe to the St Mary Magdalen's newsletter.
SZ APP - SCHOOLZINE APP
Our free SZ APP provides you with easy access to updates and notifications to inform you of any changes to dates or events, reminders of upcoming events and a way of letting us know if your child will be absent for the day. The schoolzine app can be downloaded by clicking here.
This website keeps parents informed with regular updates to events and access to newsletters and other announcements. There is also an events and bookings page for upcoming events that need to be booked online. Click here to view the events and bookings page.
We have a Facebook page for the school and this carries up to the minute posts about current events and invites positive feedback. Please LIKE our Facebook page and share with friends.
We warmly invite parents and grandparents, friends and siblings to our weekly Assembly. This is regularly held on Friday mornings from 8.50 until about 9.15. Learning communities are rostered to lead the prayer and to share their recent learning. It is a great opportunity for our school captains to show leadership and for parents to catch up on news or to celebrate student learning.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
The opportunity to meet with your child's teacher is offered regularly during the year. It is an chance to not only learn more about your child's progress but also to share your knowledge of your child with their teacher and discuss ways you can work together to support your child to reach their learning goals.
Should you wish to speak with the teacher during term, you are able to make a time to meet with the teacher.
The progress of your child's learning is provided through school reports that are sent home twice per year. While we encourage academic achievement and student learning progress, the results are an indication to you of their progress so far. We welcome parents to speak with their child's teacher if there are any questions about their child's progress or to interpret the report.
Teachers in particular learning communities may share information with parents through apps such as SeeSaw.
Ask your child’s teacher about how we use Seesaw to keep you in touch with your child's learning.
Communication between home and school cam be by email. We prefer that parents email during to normal business hours to communicate with teachers or if it is urgent to contact the office directly.
